Hi Donna:
I didn't know about your house burning down. You've had an interesting life.
Congrats on keeping the resolutions so far. I made none this year. I could have said to bike 5 times a week, but with Vancouver being like Saskatchewan this year, I may have to wait another month!

Thanks everyone for the comments - I agree this has been a great way to get to know people a little better. Rick, Atlin used to be a family road trip destination - there were, and probably still hots springs there that we would visit followed by a picnic before returning to Whitehorse. It is a lovely spot that I wouldn't mind visiting again.

Thanks for these great stories! I didn't know we had a "northern family" connection. Karin's family spent several years living in a reclaimed hardware store in Atlin, BC (right near the Yukon border). The hardware was turned into a really cool restaurant/bakery/bistro a few years ago, and now sits empty. When we visited last summer, we thought briefly about buying it. Family nostalgia and a great lifestyle awaited, but it would have no doubt been a lousy business investment. Besides, I don't think I'll ever leave Saskatoon. By the way, Karin's folks wound up in Whitehorse. I guess Atlin wasn't far enough north for them. :-)

Now, where did I put that dragon figurine that's been looking for a new home?
